Reading — 60 minutes. 3 texts and 40 questions. Differs for Academic and General modules.
Writing — 60 minutes. Includes describing a graph/letter and writing an essay.
Speaking — 11–14 minutes. A live conversation with an examiner.
All parts except Speaking are usually taken on the same day. Speaking may be scheduled on the same day or within a week before/after the main date.
Academic or General — which module to choose
Academic Module — required for university admission and academic work.
General Training Module — required for immigration (Canada, Australia, the UK) and work abroad.
An IELTS certificate is valid for two years.

How to register for the test
Choose a test centre. In Ukraine these are official partners of the British Council or IDP. Dates are available on the IELTS website.
Decide on the format. Paper test — results in 13 days; computer test — in 3–5 days.
Pay for the exam on the chosen centre's website.
Bring your passport — the same one you used to register.
Scoring (IELTS Band Score)
Results are scored from 1.0 to 9.0.
Band 9 (Expert User) — full command of the language.
Band 7–8 (Advanced) — confident command, complex discussions.
Band 6 (Competent User) — effective use, sufficient for most study programmes.
Band 5 (Modest User) — partial command, basic communication.
